Challenge Education |
|
"Life at its best is a series of challenges. A big enough
challenge will bring out strengths and abilities you never
knew you had. Take on challenges and you will bring yourself
to life" Ralph Marston Jr |

Challenge is the perception that a
task or situation exceeds one's comfort zone or capacities.
Challenge Education aims to provide participants with the
tools needed to overcome such challenges. One way this is
accomplished is through initiatives.
Initiatives are problem solving exercises, focusing on
various group issues such as; building trust, cooperation
and teamwork, decision making, conflict resolution
techniques and effective communication skills.
These activities can assist in
promoting awareness and producing positive change in
individual and group behaviour. |

Sequencing
Challenge Education follows a sequential approach to
learning. This sequence consits of goal setting, awareness,
trust, cooperation, problem solving, group challenge, and
extended challenge (Robb Havens and Witman, 1983).
Sequential learning allows the group to progress through
various levels of group development. Groups will take what
they have learned from one activity and apply it to the
next. |
 |
Learning Style
Challenge Education is experiential in nature. Instead
of attending lectures, participants learn through
hands-on involvement. Each activity is followed by a
brief period of group processing, which alows group
members the opportunity to share what they ahve just
experienced. Through sharing and discussion, group
members can apply what they have learned to true life
situations. |

limited to:
